BUY LCD TV, GPS, BLU-RAY, NETBOOK AND MORE - Kogan Technologies

The BD 2.0 Kogan BluRay Player is everything it is advertised to be. Very simple to set up using the Set-Up screen. I would recommend it to anyone who wants the most up-to-date BluRay 2.0 technology in an inexpensive player with BD 'Live' and USB connectivity for those kinds of discs. DVDs play beautifully as well, and are up-scaled to the best look you can have from them.

Generally very happy with this player. Runs well and is user-friendly right out of the box.

Upscaling is good on decently mastered DVDs, 24p playback on BluRay titles looks terrific, toggling between resolutions and regions is a breeze – and best of all, the player supports a healthy variety of video formats played off USB or DVD-R, including HD-friendly formats like .mkv files.

The only downside is that BluRay discs will glitch briefly about half a dozen times throughout the length of a movie. Rewinding and replaying makes each individual glitch vanish, so it's a player issue and not a disc-related one. Hoping the next firmware upgrade will resolve this.

On the whole, a terrific player for the price, with only the one complaint outlined above.

Plays seamlessly and quickly with perfect picture quality.
Haven't used all the features as yet, but they're all there when I need to.
Friend recommended Kogan's first release Bluray player, but as this was no longer available, I went for this newer, updated feature set player .

Love my new Kogan BluRay player. It's played everything I've thrown at it including Div-X video and it's not limited to a region for DVD. My only criticism is that it didn't come with a HDMI cable.

I received my KGNBD2A BD player on 24 July and I have to say that initially it was not without fault. Although it played blu-ray discs perfectly, it refused to play three out of about a dozen DVD's I tried in it. All three froze at some stage and with one of them the player refused to play it from the beginning and when it did play there was a tendency for the player to skip frames, before it finally froze. I returned the player to Kogan, with this disc, which resulted in new firmware being produced. Kogan returned the player last Friday (28/8/09) and all three discs that I previously had problems with now play flawlessly.

To summarise, the KGNBD2A's good points are its:
1. price/performance ratio
2. unobtrusive styling;
3. relatively short loading time;
4. comprehensive connectivity;
5. informative manual;
6. professionally done and exceptionally easy to navigate set-up menu, and
7. great audio and video performance from both Blu-ray discs and DVD's.

Its bad points are:
none at all now. If the unit proves reliable, I believe Kogan has a real winner here.

Outstanding is the word that comes to mind. The Blu ray player has exceeded my expectations. Apart from the stellar Blu Ray performance, the menu system is sensible and logical. Whats very pleasing is the ability to run avi's, jpeg (in the right format), and audio from the USB connection. I haven't got round to connecting up the internet connection so that will be another test/learning process.

Can't fault the player, especially for the price. Has played all the discs I have tried so far with good results. Hope the firmware will be updated as new stuff becomes available.

I bought my Kogan blu ray in November last year. Now I've sold it to the buyer of my home (along with Sony projector and screen) ahead of my move to Victoria.
What will I replace it with? With the new-model Kogan, of course. Picture quality on my present unit through my Sony VLP HW10 full-1080 projector is just superb and it's great knowing I can buy titles from the States and not have to worry about region-coding. And DVDs look just great too.

Excellent product. Easy to set up, comes with a downloadable manual which I haven't needed to use yet as the system is so simple to work out. The best thing for me is that it plays multi-region blu-ray and DVD discs which is hugely beneficial, as there are so many blu-ray titles out there, released in the US and not in Australia. Very easy to switch between regions. The player also upgrades the quality of DVD discs which is excellent. Really fast delivery, I am in a rural area of Tasmania, I ordered the player on Monday and it arrived by courier on Thursday. Will definitely recommend.

Easy setup and configuration. Brilliant and speedy playback of blue-ray discs!

But what is best is the amazing upscaling it does on my current dvd collection. Looks fantastic!

And all for a reasonable price.
