Frequently Asked Questions

HD Digital Set Box with PVR

  • Q: Can the PVR play movies that are stored on my HDD?

Our PVR will allow you to playback recorded material, but not movies stored onto the hard drive.  It supports MP3 and JPEG.

  • Q: Does this unit allow you to view one channel whilst recording another one?

You will indeed be able to view channels through your TV’s tuner whilst recording another one from the PVR.  You will be able to view digital channels whilst recording, if your TV has a built-in HD tuner.

  • Q: How do I convert my recorded TV shows to DVD?

DVD Flick (http://www.dvdflick.net/) is a free DVD Authoring application that can convert your recordings to the required format for DVD and then burn it to a disc for you. You can read their user guide here: http://www.dvdflick.net/guide/index_en.html

  • Q: How do I delete a recording?
    1. Press the 'Media' button, located 2 buttons up from the RED button.
    2. Select the program you want to delete, and press the BLUE button. This will mark a program for deletion, with an x to the right of the screen. You can mark multiple programs for deletion this way.

  • Q: What format does it record in? Will I be able to transfer the files onto my PC or burn it on a DVD?

It will record in .ts format. You will be able to transfer your recorded material onto your PC and burn it onto a DVD by first converting the file to a DVD format.

  • Q: What type of external hard drives and flash drives can be used with the PVR?

The PVR will only operate with powered external hard disk drives. This means that the external hard drive needs to have its own separate power supply.
The PVR is compatible with plug and play USB flash drives up to 32GB and these do not require their own power supply.
