TESTING THE NEW KOGAN IPTV

As we mentioned in the last few weeks, the immediate future for Kogan in the development of new TVs will be focused on IPTVs and convergence, rather than the much-hyped upcoming 3DTVs.

The delay of Avatar 3D on Blu-ray till 2011 goes to prove that 3D content in 2010 will be extremely limited.

We’re putting our time and energy into developing products like our imminent Full HD LCD TV with built-in Blu-ray as well as a Kogan LCD IPTV.

On our recent trip to China, our engineers showed us the great progress they have been making with IPTV. We had the chance to test a TV which enabled internet connectivity through Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections.

We’re working to develop this function into the Kogan TV range.

This really opens up what home theatres are capable of doing and will revolutionise the way TVs operate in our day-to-day lives.

As you can see in the video of Ruslan Kogan testing the TV, you’ll be able to stream online videos from content providers, browse the web, and use a variety of widgets.

The built-in gaming aspect of the TV is something we’re keen to hear your thoughts on. Would this add value to the purchase of a Kogan internet-enabled TV or does your current gaming console serve all your needs? It would add about $30 to the price of every TV with this feature.

Is there anything else you’re keen to see in a Kogan IPTV, or any comments on what we've developed so far?
