DOING OUR BIT FOR VICTORIAN BUSHFIRE VICTIMS

We're deeply saddened by the devastating bushfires in Victoria, and our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected. As a Melbourne, Victoria based company, it hits us very close to home.

We hope individuals, companies, and Government can dig deep and do everything possible to help victims of the fires.

We will be making a contribution through the Red Cross. $10 from every sale over $200 till the end of this week through www.kogan.com.au will go to help victims of this tragic disaster.

For the next week you can grab some great new Kogan gear like the discounted Blu-ray player or a HDTV and help the Victorian bushfire relief at the same time.

yeh ok showing you will do something, thats nice.

but i rekon really ur trying to get more clicks in search engines.. as the latest topic.. u have the keywords and u will get nice views and purchase... nice scam

Ricky says...

Guys...don't listen to what cynics like bob are saying - they know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

I think this is a great idea and I know you don't make the sort of money that the large corporation do but it's great to see that you are still able to dig deep in times like this....well done!

bob says...

yeh its good... but im saying its a scam on the net...
think about it

bob has rocks in his head says...

bobby what would you like them to do? telepathically transmit message to their customers? they have been using the blog as a communication tool for ages..think about it. GO KOGAN!

Marcel says...

I've thought about it Bob and I still don't seem to understand what you are saying. I wish every company I purchased anything from this weekend donated a portion of their profits to the Fire Appeal and the 1000's of people who are left homeless with nothing.

Ruslan Kogan says...

Bob, I can assure you this has nothing to do with getting more clicks.

As a Victorian company we have friends and family, as does everyone, who are in some way affected by this tragedy. We want to do our bit to help, and the best way is to donate a portion of our sales to the Red Cross.

We use this blog to talk to our customers and I would like you all to know that any purchases this week will be helping out the Red Cross in their relief efforts (thanks Ricky and Marcel for your comments). Thanks everyone for your support, and we hope other companies can chip in too!

Cheers,

Ruslan

A. Smith says...

I congratulate Kogan for this commitment to the fire appeal. At the end of the day it is money that would have normally been in Ruslan's pocket which he has chosen to give to the fire relief. Who cares if he gets additional clicks out of this?! it will amount to more money than most individuals are prepared to donate. And if people admire his brand for that- then more power to him. Everyone wins. Major telcos, banks etc are donating a piddly amount of $ compared to small business when you compare balance sheets. (Yes, im guessing Kogan is a small business, I believe the ATO defines it as less than 100 employees.... youre not quite there yet are you Ruslan?). A final thought for Bob, its easy to be cynical these days (and for good reason) but in this situation no one is hurt by what kogan is doing, in fact there are major benefits..... I wonder if bob has donated or volunteered to this relief effort? (no disrespect intended). Lets not get lost in the ridiculous debate started here... people have lost family, friends and neighbours. I hope we can all do our bit to help, just as the kogan business are doing theirs. Cheers.

kane says...

Geee i dont believe anyone would write what bob wrote..

I think kogan has put negative comment on to get on good side of customers.
No one could be that dumb.

Ruslan Kogan says...

Hi kane,

We certainly did not put on any comment on behalf of everyone.

We believe for a blog like this to serve its purpose, it must be open, transparent, and honest. I have never edited any posts, positive or negative. I will only ever do that in the case of extreme profanity. As such, we left bob's initial comments intact.

Cheers,

Ruslan

Ronen says...

Hi Ruslan

I'm not from Australia and I have no one there, yet since I was reading in the first time about your company I think that it is the first time that I know company which make me think again about the meaning of the word business.

In the first time I saw that small company from no where is going to create cell-phone with system that almost no one has been tried to do , and that is a big risk.

I was reading in here that after time when you realized that the phone is not ready you, without hesitation has been stop the sales and hold everything around the phone.

Now,after the fire and the death around the country you are giving money from every sales up than 200$ and that although the loss after the delay of the Agora.

You have a great company and I hope that in few years to see you spreating around the world.

I wish Australia will see better days.
