2009 has been a great year for Kogan with the launch of many new products in our line-up, as well as a number of great upgrades to existing lines. Throughout all of this, we have made every effort to offer high quality products, and lead the market on prices and value for money. I have thoroughly enjoyed finding new ways to bring affordable cutting edge products to the Australian market at the most affordable prices possible for consumers. A personal highlight for me would have to be the “Kevin 37” launch. The campaign featured on major news bulletins including Channel 7, Channel 9, and Channel 10, who were all impressed we were able to provide an HD 1080P 37” Kogan television for $900 – the same amount Australians received as part of the Rudd government’s stimulus payout. It was also great fun launching the new products which many of you helped to develop. By allowing input from Kogan customers to help build Kogan products, we have been able to provide some of the best value technology items on the market. I look forward to continue working alongside Kogan customers to help ensure your ideas and preferences are at the forefront of everything we do. This blog is always open to your opinions and thoughts on technology and Kogan products – so if you have any feedback on what you liked in 2009 or what you thought we could do better, please share your ideas with us. As I’m sure you know we try very hard to get the most respected media to review our products to help you get a better understanding of how they work and what their best functions are. Below are my top ten Kogan media product review highlights for 2009: Do you think I’ve missed anything here? What are your thoughts on our product line-up for 2009? Ruslan, I went to pre-order the Agora the day after you pulled them from the market, and started following your blog to get an update. But no news in 12 months...
When will we see it?

While I may not have actually purchased anything yet, I have enjoyed seeing the products that are coming out and consider the pricing to be VERY competitive.
Rather than just "consumer" goods, have you considered a high-end line? A full HD video camera for $300 is well and good, but what about something that competes on the Professional market, with full manual focus and zoom, a non-lithium battery that is physically large enough to run the camera for eight hours at a time, an over-resolution (greater than 1920 * 1080) imaging chip so that "digital stabilization" doesn't stretch bits of the frame, and solid enough to sit on a shoulder for the REAL stability, along with switches and knobs instead of hideous menus?
There's a model out there that does everything that I want, but it's $80k and I'm sure that most of the price is for the badge: "SONY".
BTW, there is no "Global Financial Crisis". It is strictly a u.s.-subprime mortgage problem for which the rest of the world is expected to pay!

I've purchased a few Kogan products and been nothing but impressed with them, especially the netbook pro. I'd like to see something like a reciever / amp released by Kogan, I'd be very interested in seeing what you could come up with.
Thanks for the products, and looking forward to what the future holds!

Just wondering your input on 3D HdTv's.
Alot of big manufacturer's are pushing it to be mainstream in 2010, are you looking into producing your own aswell?
I dont know much on the subject (what requirements for what the Tv needs) so i dont even know if your HdTvs are compatible or can (?), but i'm very interested in getting ready (setup).
I'd like to hear your opinion as my interests are delaying my purchase, so i'll have a more future proof Tv compatible with tomorrows Tech (so to speak).
So i guess my real question is,
Do i look here when the time comes to Upgrade next year in 2010 for my purchase and needed indepth information on 3D, or will i have to look elsewhere?
Thanks,
Lincon.

Three things for Kogan in 2010:
1. all TVs moving to LED backlights (we don't need fancy switching to achieve high contrast and we don't need ultra-thin, we just need a good TV with lower energy consumption)
2. a dual tuner HD PVR (I responded to your survey, but since discovered the Dvico Tvix 6600n, which is pretty close to the mark - I'll hold off to see what you come up with though!)
3. keep up the good work!

Having bought most of our home entertainment from you, (HD TV, several Blu-ray players, HD camcorder etc) and very happy with performance/quality etc you were first in mind when we started our research on HD PVR's (and I see "Simon" just beat me to a comment on them.)
I'm still researching whats available (and still new to the PVR technology), but specs that would be nice for me are dual tuner, large capacity HDD (2TB+, maybe even support the faster sata 6Gb spec), Gigabit lan for faster transfer to PC etc now that Gbit lan seems to be more common.
Although none of the PVR's I've researched support 1080p recording (many support 1080i), I believe this should be an available option (I'm told the 1080i is because OZ TV only broadcasts (currently) in 1080i not 1080p).
Option to auto-compress the recordings (DIVX? etc)
Inputs to record HD (1080p also option) from external source (HDMI input, component input etc)
Front USB inputs (playback/support of AVI/DIVX etc) via memory stick/external HDD
The above to be on top of the std expected features of a common PVR.
I hope to see Kogan PVR's start appearing in 2010 :)

Another product suggestion: Digital cameras that don't use xD, SD, CF cards. Just put a USB A port, so that people can simply plug in standard USB thumb drives without all that messing about as to, "Which format card do I have to buy?"
Also allow these products to use standard AA batteries. Built-in Li-ion batteries start failing the day they come off the production line. I currently have a Fujifilm Finepix that uses 4 * AA batteries and always carry a set of spare charged up Ni-MH AAs--none of this "Sorry, I can't use my camera. It's plugged in to recharge."

I've enjoyed using my Full-HD 1080p video camera and always refer people looking for a large screen TV to your site to compare spec's with the major brands which are usually double the price.
As your display panels and blu-ray players seem to be quite popular products, how about a home theatre setup (AV receiver with AM/FM Tuner, 5.1 channel speakers) to properly complete the home theatre experience. Picture quality is a large part of enjoying a movie but proper surround sound and decent bass caps off that experience.

Hi Kogan,
You forgot to mention that you got introuble with the ACCC.
Oh yeah and that your boss flies around the world promoting a company with monkeys in charge.
Bought a TV and it died in 3 months wasn't even worth getting in touch with you

I second the call for the Android Phone. There's still a niche for a cheap Android phone for the local market; not many Nexus One's are going to hit our shores for a good 6-12 months.

I'm thinking Kogan got paid by Google or some other company like HTC to not produce their cheap Android phone... That's what I've been told by a few people developers anyway.

Kogan's 1080P37 Full HD panel is inexpensive and should appeal to budget sensibilities, but it's not great for those who demand visual fidelity.

Things I'd like to see in 2010 from Kogan:
- a Full HD Digital Camcorder with HDD (preferably user upgradable) and 12MP stills
- an Android phone with 3.0+ inch touchscreen, 3G as well as older bands, 3.5mm headphone socket, 5.0+ MP camera, Wi-Fi and fast wireless technology (see below)
- a TV/screen with fast wireless (WUSB or prefereably the CSIRO's 6-Gb) input to stream from future PCs, smartphones etc
- a large cheque in the post (oops, did I say that out loud :-)
Have fun developing new kit!

I am also hoping to see larger LED's on the market this year in the 52-55" range. The new 8500 series from Samsung would be an interesting remake with the same technology.
I also agree with the comments to see a good receiver and speaker package to round off the ultimate viewing experience.
Would love to see these on board in 2010.

I would like to see larger sizes arrive in the new LED range and preferably Full HD 1080P, as the current range of LED's are too small and aren't Full HD

Cheap Ugg Boots says...
Every time winter comes, boots will become the favourite fashionable decorations of women, among which UGG boots are the most popular ones because of their good quality, classical design as well as the warmness they will bring to us. And women buy various styles of boots of the latest design happily and satisfactorily, because with the decoration of beautiful cheap ugg boots, women will become more charming and confident.

It may have been said...
but still waiting for kogan to bring out 55" - 60" Full HD 100-200Hz LED LCD ... or even plasma's. Make them pretty with the frameless glass rimmed look (like Sammy's top end range) So many people buy TV's because they look pretty instead of how good they are. If you can offer the quality (as you usually do) and can crack the 3k mark you'll have more sales than mac. ok maybe not but would do nicely =)
I personally would buy 2 for home and 3 for my business.
hope it helps

I'd love to see an IR blaster integrated into your TVs, so that those of us with all our gear tucked away in a cabinet could have a truly elegant wall mounted solution. As far as I can tell, you'd be the first to do it, and it would look great on your new OLED sets (which are all about style).
