I'm still in China and I'll be back in Melbourne later this week. I haven't had a huge amount of access to the net so I'll answer all of your questions as soon as I get back.
I have come across some news which you might find interesting. According to Current, Toshiba, a Japanese company, have moved some of their LCD production to Taiwan.
This confirms what I've maintained all along. Many major LCD players source panels from China, and Kogan is no different. This does not reflect a lesser quality, but better value to the business and hopefully the customer. At least with the Kogan business model it does!
Tell me what you think.

Hi I saw your bit on today tonight and just want to clarify a few things firstly you claim to have the latest technoligies tested as soon as they are available then you bring them in, however you have one size full hd tv and you dont have one even, really July 21st has one coming so thats not really even close to the latest technologies. Please help me understand this also did you really after 3 years in business just work out the AUO & CMO a 35,000 employee company based in Taiwan make a majority of the LCD modules sold today? For someone so "passionate about technology" you dont have alot of insight im dissappointed to be honest. But most importantly this is your quote:
Kogan is a new business philosophy that places customers at the top of the food chain. We eliminate all the "middle men" and pass the savings directly to you. We are a manufacturer, importer, wholesaler, and retailer all in one. By cutting out all the "middle men"
I've watched your bit on today tonight and read all the hype this is direct sales something Amway Corporation are referred to by Harvard University as the benchmark in, this is not a new system it was developed in the 1940's by two guys Rich Devos & Jay Van Andle. The only diffrence was they were the manufacturer which you claim above you are but contridict yourself in this blog above saying you BUY from the same people as Samsung so dont take credit for something you didn't do that is invent the direct sales wheel people like my family worked to hard in Amway to have you claim to be the developer of manufacturer to consumer marketing of goods . When are you releasing FULL HD DVB-T in your screens ? Its available why dont you have it since your a leader in technology? Look forward to your response

In the above you are strongly suggesting that Taiwan is China... that is not true. Please get your facts straight. What's more Taiwan has vastly superior technology and techniques that have been proven over the last few decades particularly in electronics.
To state Taiwan in the same breath as China shows your ignorance and lack of understanding of Taiwan's underlying cultural issues with China.
Your statement is like suggesting that New Zealand is part of Australia or vis versa, but worse as Taiwan is a democracy and China is a communist country.

I would be good to know what payment methods are avail before you are committed to a purchase. Your products seem very good but info on the site is very difficult to find.

How will your 19" tv/dvd combo handle travelling in a motorhome over rugged outback tracks? I run a 750watt sinewave inverter so power is no problem - I understand all your gear is 240v not 12v? Can I pickup in Melb before we travel away in 2 weeks time and if so, where from please. Great prices..

I am interested in purchasing a 37 inch (or bigger) LCD TV. Do you have a retractable wall mounted bracket that allows the TV to be rotated 90 degrees?

Hi Louie,
Thanks for your comments. I knew about the production habits of the LCD products but that article was published just last week. I thought it might interest some of the readers of this blog, that's all. I've actually had the Full HD products for quite a while now. The tremendous success we've had has meant the next shipment is being presold, hence that later date.
About the Full HD DVB-T, we are able to implement the technology at the moment. However, we won't have this in our range until the Australian broadcastion associations begin broadcasting in 1080P. Until that happens, a Full HD DVB-T is of no benefit. For what it's worth, I think we will be using IPTV before 1080P broadcasting becomes a reality, at least in Australia.

Hi Gary, you're right about the cultural differences between Taiwan and China. However, I think it's important to know that most of the panels, chipsets, and other components are made in Taiwan and Korea. The chassis is made in China, and all the parts are assembled there as well.

Hi John. We are actually in the process of opening up a facility in Sydney. It should be operational within a few months. If you subscribe to our newsletter on the homepage at http://www.kogan.com.au you can stay updated, and find out exactly when it will be ready. That and keep checking the blog!

I am interested in purchasing an LCD TV from you. However, could you please tell me what the black-level performance and the off-angle viewing are like in your LCD TV's compared to a Plasma TV, as I was going to buy a Plasma because these things aren't an issue for them. Thanks very much.

Hi Ruslan,
Just a quick question, are you thinking about importing and selling computer LCD monitors? Thanks.

Ruslan Kogan says...
Yes! We will have 24" monitors with 1920x1200 resolution. They will be available for presale within the next few days, so check back soon!

Like John says, we need an outlet in Sydney. With the added cost of shipping from Melbourne, a fair bit of the cost benefit is gone. After the publicity from the Today Tonight article, I checked a few of the HD TVs on your site. Coming back to the site today I am still a bit worried and confused. Even for the current X46-46" LCD TV, under "Specifications" the Tuning System is stated as "Built in analog tuner". Is this a High Definition TV or a "High Definition Ready" analog TV.

Like David, I too would be interested in getting a good quality reasonably priced HD PVR (preferrably 1080P) to go along with a 1080P LCD TV (probably 100Hz 47")

I wish to know what environmental standards your chinese manufacturing base adheres to. I know that other major tv manufacturers for example sharp who make thier panels in kayama japan aswell as panasonic and sony also manufacturing in japan, and philips who have left china and moved manufacturing back to belgium(europe) all follow strict guidelines today in respect to environmental emissions and limiting waste. Who is it that manufactures your panels in china and do they have any environmental standards at all??

Ruslan, I think what you are doing is brilliant. I run the exact same business model in the golf industry in Australia, http://www.lindgolf.com.au. I'm 24 and my brand is also named after my surname. I know all about your model and so forth as it is identical to mine, just in a different industry and you are doing a brilliant job at it. Keep pushing forward and don't let the critics worry you. Well done mate.

HI Doug. We are currently looking to establish warehouses in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. This will result in very cheap courier rates to metro areas in those cities, so stay tuned for that announcement: http://feeds.feedburner.com/kogan
About the TVs, we do have them with HD tuners over at http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/category/1080p-full-hd-lcd-tv/

Hi Bill. I hope to be able to make an announcement shortly about the HD PVR. I'm looking to bring one into the Kogan range that has dual HDMI inputs, so you'll be able to watch one show and record another, or record two at once. It will work much like a Foxtel iQ box. Stay tuned.

Hi Michael. First of I'll mention that my business is entirely paperless -- so we minimise waste from the outset. With regards to the products, this article might be of interest: http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,25642,23814534-5014116,00.html
We will actually be putting the (currently) optional power rating stickers on our products very shortly. Our initial tests have shown that our TVs are very power efficient.
